week
Earning a Bachelor's degree in Vaisnava
Theology takes three years of study. The studies are full-time studies, which
mean that there are generally three days of studies per week. The year consists
of two semesters. Seminars and practical themes like Music, Vedic Cooking, Rhetoric
(speaking skills) and Leadership & Management contribute, in addition to lectures,
to students practice of communication and personal activity. Corresponding studies
are available on weekends. The three years of studies lead to the final examination,
essay and thesis writing and its defence. The thesis is a final synopsis of students
personal research.
Full-time
studying week
The week program consists
of three days of studies and of practical services. Lecture days are made up of
themes in accordance with curriculum. Parts of the studies are completed as intensive
courses under the guidance of visiting lecturers.
Lectures
are arranged on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Practical services consist
of temple services, attending Indian Experience programs and exercises in lecturing
in different educational institutions. Intensive courses are also held in summer
and there might be some study trips abroad, for example, to India.
What
is College preparing for?
After finishing one's
studies a student can take different teaching assignments inside the Krishna movement
like an expert lecturer in universities and high-schools, an assistant in the
Bhaktivedanta College. He or she may become a leader in different spheres of the
movement or continue to the Master course, and after that maybe even to a doctoral
thesis. Generally, a doctoral thesis is examined in Hungary. After a Master course
there is an opportunity to receive a pedagogic degree as a teacher, at which point
a person can become a teacher of Krishna religion in schools. If a person wants
to take advantage of his studies in the universities of Finland, it is possible
according to the Bologna Treaty.
